Internet Visibility
by: Jeffrey Mason

The definition:

Dictionary.com says that visibility is the fact, state, or degree of being visible and says that the internet is an interconnected system of networks that connects computers around the world via the TCP/IP protocol.

From these definitions we can then construct that internet visibility is the fact, state, or degree of being visible on an interconnected system of networks that connects computers around the world via the TCP/IP protocol.

The numbers:

Clickz.com projects the number of worldwide internet users to be 1.07 billion by the end of 2005, which includes 140+ million active Americans. Projected growth for 2007 is to hit 1.3 billion

According to an article at addict3d.org which offers a way to find out the index volume of Google using a negative value, Google currently has over 9.5 billion web pages indexed. This has grown considerably since the just over 8 billion reported by Google only a short time ago.

So with using the above statistics we can see the growth rate of internet users is roughly 11% per year and the growth rate of search engines page index’s (using the most popular search engine Google as revealed by Clickz statistics for January 2005) is over 20% per year.

In 5 years, if these statistics remain consistent, there will be approximately 1.8 billion internet users and over 23 billion pages indexed at Google.

The end result:

By combining our definition with our statistics and slightly modifying our statement we can now say that internet visibility is the fact, state, or degree of being visible on an interconnected system of networks growing at a rate of 20% per year that connects computers around the world which is growing at a rate of 11% per year via the TCP/IP protocol.

So by loosely applying the above statistics to a popular search term like realtors we can come up with this example:

Search Engine = Google.com
Search term = Realtors
Search Results 2005 = 15,500,000
Projected Search Results 2010 = 38,568,960

If you think being found on the internet is difficult nowadays, imagine 5 years from now!

The solution:

Increase your internet visibility by doing these 2 things:

1. Be as specific and as precise as possible when it comes to advertising yourself on the internet. It is a much better idea to compete locally for over 90% of businesses and groups since most of the products and services offered are local anyhow. By being more exact with this information the people coming to your site will be happier and you will get a higher return on investment from your website.
2. Join a team or affiliation which supports each other. One of the most basic lessons in life is two heads are better then one. Outside of the internet most businesses join their local chamber of commerce or other groups/affiliations for support, ideas and assistance to help themselves grow but for some reason when it comes to the internet they feel they must do it on their own. If anything, on the internet you need support from colleagues more then ever.

Tops in America (www.topsinamerica.com), a new and exciting website focused on helping businesses increase their internet visibility, gathers thousands of businesses from all across the United States all supporting one another on the internet by creating a network of businesses that are all interested in increasing their internet visibility. Unlike directories or search engines, Tops in America is a location specific listing of the top ten businesses in specific locations all across the US. With only ten spots available in each category and in each location, web patrons will find location specific listings of respected businesses offering the products or services they are looking for while businesses benefit from specific traffic being sent to their site on a steady basis bringing them new and valued customers.

Businesses win and Web Surfers win.

If you are a business owner wanting to learn more about this opportunity you should visit the Tops in America Business Center (www.tiabusinesscenter.com).
